One of my favorite things about walking around Geneva is seeing all kinds of bizarre signs on streets, store windows, etc.  I, along with a couple other folks in my graduate program, have gotten in the habit of taking photos of the best of these signs and coming up with unique explanations of what they mean.  Below are a few of my favorites.

This sign indicates that children are not allowed to cross the street unless they are accompanied by a man wearing a hat.  The Swiss take this rule very seriously.

This sign warns drivers that medium size breasts are ahead.  There also signs for small breasts, large breasts, and huge breasts.  It is helpful to know what to expect.

This signs needs no explanation and has a story.  Yesterday, we saw a turtle crawling around the John Knox center.  We figured that it was a wild, free-range turtle (as most turtles are), but it turns out that it was a pet turtle from one of the houses near the center.  The owners came by looking for it later in the day, but by that point it was no where to be found.  Apparently the turtle’s name is Marsha and her owners, desperate to get her back, have posted signs around the area.

That is all for now, but as the title indicates, this is just part one of my series on the signs of Geneva, so you can expect more in the next episode.
